Anxiety and Perfectionism Therapy for Women in Texas

For high achievers who still feel like it's never quite enough.

Successful on the outside. Anxious on the inside.

You've done the degrees, the promotions, the hard things. People see you as capable and calm. What they don't see is how hard you work to keep it that way:

  • Your mind replays conversations long after they end.

  • You over-prepare because "good enough" feels risky.

  • Mistakes, even small ones, stay with you for days.

  • You have trouble relaxing until everything is done, and it's never all done.

  • Praise doesn't land, but criticism lands hard.

  • Your body keeps score: tight shoulders, racing heart, restless sleep.

Where perfectionism comes from

Perfectionism usually starts as protection. Maybe you learned early that being excellent kept you safe, earned approval, or made you harder to dismiss. For many women of color, being twice as good wasn't a choice; it was the rule.

Those strategies may have helped you succeed. Now they may be costing you sleep, joy, and connection. Therapy is a place to keep what serves you and let go of what doesn't.

How we'll work together

Our work is practical and personal. Together, we'll:

  • Understand your anxiety, what triggers it, and what it's trying to protect.

  • Learn tools to calm your body and mind that you can use in the moment, not just in session.

  • Challenge the inner critic and the "never enough" story it tells.

  • Build shame resilience. As a Daring Way™ Trained Facilitator, I help clients work through the fear of being seen, judged, or found lacking.

  • Practice imperfection on purpose, in small, safe ways, so you can take up space without exhausting yourself.

I also use Brainspotting, a brain-body approach that can help when talking alone hasn't been enough. We'll decide together whether it fits your goals.

Frequently asked questions

Is perfectionism really a problem if it helps me succeed?

Not all high standards are a problem. It becomes one when it drives constant anxiety, burnout, or the feeling that you can never rest. Therapy doesn't lower your standards; it helps you stop paying such a high price for them.

Will I have to talk about my childhood?

Only as much as is helpful to you. Some of our work may look at where patterns began, but much of it focuses on what's happening now and what you want to change.

Can I use my insurance?

Yes, if you have one of the plans listed above. Insurance requires a diagnosis on your record, so some clients choose private pay instead.

Do I need to live in Texas?

You need to be physically located in Texas during each session.
